Schlemmer Drops

 

Figurine 1 from the Triadic Ballett

 

Oskar Schlemmer (1888-1943), who was a famous teacher of the Bauhaus school, developed around 1912 an experimental ballet, together with the dancers Elsa Hötzel and Albert Burger.
The term „triadic“ (from Greek: triad) was chosen to define the fundamental components of a theatric representation as trinity.

Three figures, called „figurines“ by Oskar Schlemmer, dance a special choreography in costumes showing this trinity.
Parts of the Triadic Ballet were performed in 1916, but the premiere of the complete play only took place in 1922 in Stuttgart.
